“In a world so full of wonder, with so many exciting things to do, it's a shame so many choose to just exist rather than to live.” ~ Javan
Hi there! I'm Jessica Gilbert: photographer, software developer, 13-year military veteran, wife, mom, travel junkie, music lover, self-proclaimed nerd, comic book fan, and lover of the outdoors. Listening to Jimi Hendrix will ALWAYS put a smile on my face. Oh, and I am absolutely obsessed with The Walking Dead. What can I say? A captivating zombie apocalypse show is the way to my heart.
My super power is that I can freeze time…literally. I love the fact that I can pick up my camera and capture a fleeting moment in time and preserve that moment forever, which is one of the reasons I became a photographer in the first place. The other, and more important reason I do what I do, is because I love the connections I can make with people. I love having the opportunity to get you in front of my camera and capture an image that makes you feel great about yourself. There is no better feeling than to be able to give your confidence a boost by showing you just how beautiful the rest of the world sees you; because let's face it, we are our own worst critics.
I am pretty open-minded, so while I do enjoy it I don't just want to photograph traditional portraits and weddings. I just love to learn about your stories, because that is what makes you… well, you. I am over the moon about all love stories; traditional, non-traditional, it doesn't matter to me. I think that's the best part about being a photographer; no two stories are ever the same and each one has a beauty all its own.
I also have a passion for a special cause that is close to my heart. I want to tell the story of cancer patients through imagery. I do it for FREE. Cancer has had a major impact on my family and documenting the courage of those fighting the battle against cancer or who have fought and won their battle is something very important to me. To read more about what, how, and why I do free photo sessions for cancer patients please visit my page Documenting Courage: A Gift to Cancer Patients.
To help you get to know me better I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite adventures over the past few years with you. So here we go! ** Psst. I put a special slide at the end as a tribute to The Walking Dead. :) **
